Indian Lake Swim Team
Participation Agreement

Athlete Participation

In order to promote athlete participation, ensure fairness to those athletes who make the full
commitment to the team, and facilitate coaching, the following policy has been adopted by the
Board of Directors.

1. Each swimmer of ILST is supplied with a team T-shirt and team cap. Every swimmer should
report to competition in team gear. This promotes team spirit, makes for faster swimming,
and assists the coaches in identifying their swimmers during a competition.

2. Each member of the ILST is strongly encouraged to attend at least 3 dual meets and City
Meet.  The Nashville Swim League requires that an athlete participate in at least 2 dual
meets in order to compete in City Meet.

3. It is assumed that all athletes will participate in all meets unless the Coaching Staff is
informed otherwise by the Friday preceding Tuesday’s meet. This can be done by
scratching your child off of the roster for the date of the meet in question. Scratch rosters can
be found on a clipboard with the team mailbox. IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THAT YOU SCRATCH YOUR CHILD BY THE FRIDAY PRECEDING THE MEET; otherwise, it can really cause problems for the coaches on the day of the meet, and possibly prohibit other swimmers from swimming in a relay.

PARENT PARTICIPATION:

Please plan to work each swim meet that your child is swimming in.  We need your help!  Swimming is a sport where everyone gets to participate, including the parents.  We cannot run swim meets without parents volunteering.  If you are unable to attend the meet, we could use your help to set up for the meet the evening before.  It’s necessary for parents to help, and it is also fun.  Kim Stinnett is our volunteer coordinator; let her know what jobs you would like to sign up for.  We appreciate your help!

City Meet-Every parent who has a child participating in City Meet is required to work a shift at
every session that they have an athlete competing in. This is non-negotiable. The NSL requires each team to fulfill specific work requirements, and it takes everyone’s help.  If you feel you can not meet this obligation, do not enter your child in City Meet.
